The Marriott name has been a bible for quality education in electrocardiography for the past six decades and more. This 12th revised and updated edition is a gem, which offers residents, fellows, and experienced clinicians a comprehensive resource for building up and buttressing their interpretive skills of electrocardiography. Presenting in-depth reflections on newest applications, the present Marriott edition is simply a joy to behold. In the present e-age, it is duly tagged with a fully searchable website, which offers animations and video clips illustrating diverse cardiovascular disease processes and the key correlations between ECG results and the heart muscle. Busy clinicians should find the unique QR codes placed throughout the text particularly useful since they take the reader instantly to the relevant electronic content through their smart phones.

The current 532-page book carries a total of 24 chapters. Each focuses on basic concepts, abnormal wave morphology, and abnormal rhythms, and is divided into learning units describing in detail the concepts essential to daily cardiology practice. The book presents a host of ECG recordings, anatomical drawings, and tables that offer comprehensive guidance to the rapid and accurate interpretation of ECG results. At the end of each chapter, a robust glossary reinforces the understanding of key terminology.

The book has a number of two-color illustrations, and a multitude of black-and-white illustrations. This is a high-quality book written with immaculate clarity, and a valuable ally for physicians interested in developing excellent ECG interpretation skills. Professor Galen S. Wagner, the first author, is a leading faculty at the celebrated Duke University Medical Center.
